GIANT YARD PONG RULES

• Yard Pong is played with 2-person teams, 12 buckets, and 2 balls.

• This tournament is played as a single-game elimination.

• A coin toss before the game determines which team throws first.

• Each team sets up a triangle of 6 buckets opposite the other team.

• The objective is to throw or bounce the ball into the opposing team's buckets and eliminate all of their buckets before they eliminate yours.

• Players must stand behind their last bucket while throwing or bouncing the ball.

• A ball thrown directly into a bucket eliminates that bucket. (If the ball goes in and bounces back out, it does not count.)

• A successful bounce shot eliminates the bucket it lands in plus one additional bucket chosen by the shooting team.

• Each team throws both balls before the opposing team takes its turn, and each player must throw once per round.

• If a team makes both shots, they immediately receive both balls for another turn.

• If a bucket is accidentally knocked over by a thrown ball, it is returned to its original position and is not eliminated.

• When a team's final bucket is eliminated, each player on that team receives one final chance to force overtime by making all of the opponent's remaining buckets. If successful, the game continues with a 3-bucket overtime round.

• If overtime is not forced and all buckets have been eliminated, the opposing team wins.

Defense

• On bounce shots, the defending team may safely catch, swat, kick, head, or otherwise block the ball after it has touched the ground to prevent it from entering a bucket.

• The same defensive play is allowed if the ball bounces off the rim of a bucket.

• If the ball bounces into a bucket off a defender, the shot still counts.

• If a defending player accidentally knocks over one of their own buckets while playing defense, that bucket is considered eliminated.

• If a defender interferes with the ball before it touches the ground or a bucket, the throwing team may choose any one of the defending team's buckets to be removed, even if it is the last remaining bucket.
